About the event

A breathwork yoga workshop combines the practices of yoga and specific breathing techniques, the key goal is to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. The parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for the body's rest-and-digest response, which promotes relaxation, healing, and overall well-being. During the workshop, participants learn and engage in various breathwork exercises and yoga postures designed to enhance breath awareness and control.

Here's a general outline of what you might expect from a breathwork yoga workshop:

  • Introduction: The workshop typically begins with an introduction to the importance of  breath in yoga and its impact on overall health. The instructor may discuss the benefits of breathwork, including stress reduction, improved focus, increased energy, and emotional balance.
  • Breathwork Techniques: The instructor guides participants through different breathwork techniques, such as deep diaphragmatic breathing, alternate nostril breathing, and rhythmic breath patterns. These techniques aim to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, inducing a state of relaxation and calm.
  • Yoga Asanas (Postures): Participants engage in a series of yoga asanas that complement the breathwork practice. These postures help open up the chest, improve lung capacity, and enhance the flow of energy in the body. The instructor may focus on specific asanas that encourage deep breathing and breath control.
  • Pranayama (breath control): Pranayama refers to the practice of controlling the breath. Participants learn and practice different pranayama techniques, such as Kapalabhati (skull-shining breath), Ujjayi (victorious breath), and Bhramari (humming bee breath). These techniques help regulate the breath and bring about a sense of calm and clarity.
  • Bandhas (energetic locks) or muscular contractions practiced in yoga to redirect and control the flow of energy within the body. Bandhas help to direct and regulate the flow of energy (prana) within the body. By engaging the bandhas, you can enhance energy circulation and prevent it from dissipating, allowing for a more focused and concentrated state during your yoga practice.
  • Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) or psychic sleep, is a guided meditation and relaxation technique that induces a state of deep relaxation while maintaining full awareness. The practice involves systematically relaxing the body, releasing tension, and entering a state of conscious deep sleep
  • Mudras (hand gestures) or symbolic positions commonly used in yoga and meditation practices. By creating specific configurations with the hands and fingers, mudras help to redirect the flow of energy within the body and influence different aspects of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
  • Mantras (sacred sounds)  or words,  phrases chanted or repeated during yoga and meditation practices. They have been used for centuries as a powerful tool for focusing the mind, cultivating specific qualities, and experiencing deeper states of consciousness
  • Guided Meditation: The workshop may include guided meditation sessions centered around breath awareness. Participants are encouraged to observe the natural rhythm of their breath, bringing their attention to the present moment and cultivating a sense of inner stillness.
  • Emotional Release: Breathwork can elicit emotional release, allowing suppressed emotions and trauma to surface and be processed. Participants may experience a range of emotions during the practice, including sadness, anger, fear, or joy. The instructor will provide guidance and support for individuals as they navigate their emotional experiences.
  • Integration and Closing: Towards the end of the workshop, there is usually a period of reflection and discussion. Participants have the opportunity to share their experiences, ask questions, and receive guidance from the instructor. The workshop concludes with a closing meditation or relaxation exercise.
